Continuing Education Requirements
All Salespersons and Brokers:
The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission has mandated the completion of 14 hours of continuing education for license renewal every even-numbered year. The curriculum is as follows:
- For the 2018-2020 renewal cycle, 1.5 hours must be in the topic of property management, with 2 hours in the topic of advertising. The coursework must be completed between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2020 in order to meet the requirement. New licensees who are renewing for the first time are exempt from these required topics but are still required to complete the mandatory courses for new licensees pursuant to 49 PA Code §35.384(b).
- Realtor® members are required to complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of approved Code of Ethics training every two years. Free, online Code of Ethics training is available through the National Association of Realtors®, or you can take other courses locally. Some local PA associations have additional ethics education requirements; check with your local association for more information.
- Appraisers must complete 28 hours of continuing professional education by June 30 of every odd-numbered year.
All Newly License Salespersons (on or after December 1, 2017):
You must complete the following mandatory new license modules in your first renewal cycle:
- 7 hours General Module
- 7 hours Residential Module
