What is the difference between a MEMEBER and a SUBSCRIBER?

When you join the Association as a REALTOR® you are a MEMBER, this means you have voting rights within the REALTOR® Association, access to hundreds of free or discounted resources through both the National Association of REALTORS® and the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS® . It also means that you pay yearly dues.

When you are a Subscriber to the MLS, that means that you are a REALTOR®, but you pay your National, State, and Local dues through another Association.

If you have questions and are not ready to fill out the Membership Application, please fill out the Form: PMAR Membership Inquiry Form and someone from membership will get to you soon.

What is the difference between a real estate agent and a REALTOR®?

Anyone who earns a real estate license can be called a real estate agent, whether that license is as a sales professional, an associate broker, or a broker. A real estate agent who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, which means that they must uphold the standards of the association and its code of ethics, is called a REALTOR® and is entitled to all of the benefits of membership associated with the trademark.

A real estate broker is a person who has worked as a salesperson for at least three years and has taken education beyond the agent level as required by state laws. They must also pass a broker’s license exam. Brokers can work alone or they can hire agents to work for them.

Do I need to come into the office to apply?

Nope, we have subscribers all over the country. The forms are available above and you can e-sign and email everything back to us. However, if you are becoming a PRIMARY MEMBER of our Association you will be required to attend a New Member Orientation session on site.

* As part of new member orientation you are required to complete the mandated NAR® Code of Ethics (COE) requirement.

You have 60 days from the day you join PMAR® to meet this requirement. You can complete your COE requirement at: https://www.nar.realtor/about-nar/governing-documents/code-of-ethics/code-of-ethics-training/code-of-ethics-training-for-new-members. Upon completion, please send your certificate to PMAR®.

PMAR Bylaws: Article V
Section 4. New Member Code of Ethics Orientation

(a) Applicants for REALTOR® Membership shall complete an orientation program on the Code of Ethics of not less than two hours and thirty minutes of instructional time. This requirement does not apply to applicants for REALTOR® Membership who have completed comparable orientation in another association, provided that REALTOR® Membership has been continuous, or that any break in Membership is for one year or less. Requirement waived if applicant completed a Pocono Mountains Association of REALTORS® orientation course during the four (4) years preceding the date of application. (Revised November 2008.)

(b) Failure to satisfy this requirement within 60 days of the date of application (or when next Orientation Course is scheduled), will result in denial of the Membership application.

How do I get a Supra Key?

First, you must be a Member of the Pocono Mountains Association of REALTORS, and then you must download the Supra e-Key app on your phone.

You will need to make an appointment to set up your account. There are two contracts you will need to sign with PMAR®. You will need to also complete a credit card authorization form, as we are a facilitator for Supra and they do their own billing. Once your paperwork is processed, and the one-time activation fee and first monthly fee are paid, your activation code and personal identification number will be generated.  As a key holder, you are allowed to lease, for free, Electronic Lock Boxes (ELBs) from our office.  You are allowed to lease as many ELBs as active listings that you have plus one.
